« Let The Train Blow The Whistle » est une chanson qui figure sur le premier volet des « American Recordings » de Johnny Cash, une série de six albums, tous produits par Rick Rubin, entamée en 1994 et terminée en 2010, les deux derniers volumes ayant été sortis à titre posthume.
Les « American Recordings » sont en grande partie constitués de reprises, dont certaines très surprenantes, mais « Let The Train Blow The Whistle » est un morceau signé par Cash lui-même. La version live qui suit, avec le public qui reprend « Let her blow! » en décalé, est vraiment superbe.
